Umbrellas creations
Francois's house we have very old period materials.
Our umbrella factory is over a century old, so we can, for example, use
old steel or baleen ribs, handles in ebony, horn, leather,
brass plates and tips, bone needles or different metals as in the past. This allows us to restore and also manufacture exceptional umbrellas that go beyond the standard and cannot be found elsewhere. These umbrellas require several dozen hours of work to make.
A true object of art that demands a rare and unique know-how passed down for several generations in our family. Here are some examples :
No. 1 “black and white”: This umbrella is made with 8 black and white metal ribs measuring 42cm, hand-sewn bone needles, a horn plate and a solid silver tip, the slide and nut are made of brass. The mast is made of beech with a mahogany and ivory handle. The fabric is 100% cotton. Alternating black and white thread to give a contrast effect.
No. 2 “the black and red” : This umbrella is made with 8 red and black steel ribs measuring 39cm, chiseled metal needles, a steel plate and a steel tip, the slide and nut are made of brass.
