Umbrella restoration service

Restoration processes require great technical know-how that we have accumulated over 5 generations in our family in Poitiers. Since restoration work is meticulous and takes a lot of time, we do this type of work on request and only during quiet periods.

For over 140 years we have kept a stock of very old materials such as whalebone.
Since more than 130 years we have kept a stock of very old materials such as whalebones: they were used in the 1800s before the creation in 1851 of the Fox U-shape frame as we all know it today.

Or we also kept very special parts such as the tips made from bone, horn or ivory...
We can therefore restore almost identically, as in the past. We could restore all parts of your umbrella or sunshade such as the tips, the shafts, the ribs, the ferrules, the rivets, the springs, the handles...

We take it entirely off in order to clean, make it shine and refit the parts which could be used again.  We could re-cover the fabric in order to give a new life to your umbrella or your sunshade.. We can do a covering so that your parasol or umbrella regains its former youth.

For the too much worn parts or broken ones we replace them as we try to keep as much as possible the authenticity of the product.

– The size of the ribs and the diameter of your umbrella
– You have to say if it's an automatic or a classic umbrella
– you also have to say if it is a foldable or straight umbrella
– Attach several photos as well as a photo of the broken place

Once we have submitted the quote and if you wanted, you could send your umbrella by recorded delivery parcel to our workshop in Poitiers. (Do not send your umbrella until we have confirmed the restoration by email).

Please ship your umbrella with this completed form, which allows us to be able to contact you in the event of a problem and to be able to track your package when we ship it. Without this form previously completed, we will not be able to process your request.

Once it will be repaired we will send you back by recorded delivery parcel too. Our repairs could last one month depending on the complexity of the work to do.

Return shipping and packaging costs for France are €13 for a folding umbrella and €17 for a straight umbrella. Payment can be made by check, bank transfer or credit card over the phone.
